..and BTW: how the HELL could it be called “love” – we definitely are long overdue on a good word to linguistically ensnare this beast!

Good point! Why do we call it “love”? Infatuation may be slightly more accurate – but yet that has a stigma.
I wonder what effect a name change would have STD rates (for example).
Please, could you suggest a new word?
